AKA Slasher. Black with brownish nose, flanks, stifle (seal brown); star & strip white, 15.2h, 1050 lbs. Foaled 6/1/1855, Bridgeport, VT. Breeder: David Heustis. Died 7/29/1887 (Fashion Stud Farm, Trenton, NJ.) T 2:24. Raced 1863-64; won 6 of 6 races. No stallion in his day could surpass him. Registered Morgan progeny: 107 colts, 1 filly. Sire of dam of Glassware Girl, 2:19 1/4. Pedigree in Wallace`s American Stud-Book [1867], vI, p958. He was a compactly built horse, and sire of much elegant as well as fast trotting stock. He was never beaten on the turf. He left the State of Maine full of horses with grand, bold trotting style, and transmitted the trotting action with remarkable uniformity--John Wallace Thompson Sketches, Historical and Descriptive, of Noted Maine Horses [1874].
