Hoskins Found Guilty of 52 Counts of Animal Cruelty
July 9th, 2013
Morgan horse owner, Beth Lynne Hoskins, was found guilty Monday, July 8, by Town Justice Douglas W. Marky, of 52 counts of animal cruelty.
On March 18, 2010, Hoskins's Aurora, New York, farm was raided by the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and removed 73 horses, 53 cats, and four dogs. Hoskins has vehemently denied any wrongdoing and insists she properly cared for all her animals. In this trial, which began before Memorial Day 2012, Hoskins was found guilty of 52 misdemeanor counts under the state Agriculture & Markets Law, and was not guilty on 22 counts.
Hoskins has said she plans to appeal the verdict to the Erie County Court Appellate Term. Sentencing has been scheduled for September 26.
