Hi All,

The 2008 Convention in MN was fantastic. They, certainly, are an enthusiastic group. The hospitality was wonderful. Although the temperatures were quite cold, everyone seemed to stay warm inside. The trips on Thursday to the barns and clinics were very informative - and HEATED - thanks to all who worked so hard to keep us warm - in mind and body.

The Board had a productive few days. Some highlights are:

Financial: Although we ended the year with a significant loss, it was not as much loss as we had forecast - I guess it is always good not to lose as much as you thought you would. The first month of the new fiscal year showed a positive bottom line and, although smaller than last year, we hope it will continue upward. The staff is doing everything they can to minimize expenses and they have added some new revenue sources. Our 2007 Financial Audit was done by a new firm, McSoley, McCoy and Co. They reviewed not only 2007 but also the previous year's report - 2006 from Tapia. Not only did they find our 2007 financials in good order, they also found our previous year's report to be accurate and appropriate. We received an "Unqualified" rating which is the best you can get.

Membership: As of 1/01/2008 our membership accounts numbered 10,281. This is slightly down from the 10,714 for the same period in 2007.

Registry: This is a very busy time for the Registry with all the Stallion Service Reports. Turn around time is still good at about 10 business days. The online Registry continues to do very well.

Shelburne Building: Repairs and improvements continue to be made on the building, and will progress more once the weather permits. The AMHI/AMHA Building Committee will be holding a Gala the first weekend in May to commemorate 20 years in VT and to increase awareness of the capital building campaign. Look for more information coming from the office in the future.

NAIS: AMHA is keeping abreast of this situation. Right now it is still voluntary and we are NOT volunteering any information. The AMHA has not taken a stand on this issue one way or the other. AMHA has NOT sold anyone's name to any Federal Government Agency.

Morgan Breeder's Sweepstakes: We were informed that the AMHI was going to work on continuing this program in some fashion.

After the elections - congratulations to our new and re-elected Directors, Kris Breyer, Sherry Cole, Jack Gatewood, Harry Sebring and Pat West - we elected our new AMHA President. Congratulations to Cindy Mugnier who will represent us for the next year. Also, we are very grateful to Mike Goebig for his service for the past 3 years. He has helped us through some difficult times.

The Stallion Service Auction was a huge success and will help with funding for Marketing, Regional Shows and the World Futurity.

Our next BOD meeting will be in VT at the end of April. Come and visit with us if you can for the BOD meeting in Burlington, at AMHA Headquarters in Shelburne and during the Gala.

AMHA 2007 Year-End Membership

A recent global email to Region 3 & Region 9 contained a typographical error. Two numbers were inadvertently transposed.

AMHA membership as of 12/31/2007 was 10,281 not 10,821. We apologize for the confusion.
