Dear Region 5 Members,

As your newly elected Region Five Co-Director, I would like to thank all of you in the region for your support in my election.

I must say that Region Five ROCKS! The efforts put forth by primarily the North Central Morgan Horse Association in the production of this year's convention in Minneapolis were fantastic! The facilities, food, on and off site clinics and hospitality were second to none. It was a great convention, You Betcha!

In addition, I would like to congratulate Region Five Clubs on awards that were given at the awards luncheon and banquet. Both of the Service Club Newsletter Awards went to Region Five Clubs, with the North Dakota Morgan Horse Club winning, and North Central Morgan Horse Club in reserve. Newsletters such as these are important to not only keep local members abreast of things, but also become an archive of local Morgan history. Reserve Club of the year went to that perennial winning (and busy) club, Mississippi Valley Morgan Horse Club.

Golden Reins awardees in Region Five were Stan Bodnar, and Lyle and Collen Wick. A Breeders Hall of Fame award went to Merriehill Farm. Youth Person of the Year went to Travis Filipek for all that she has done to encourage Morgan Youth members to slide into the sport of reining. I am very proud to have all of these awardees in Region Five.

Remember that AMHA provides its members with many programs and services outside of the Registry. These include the very popular Open Competition and the Pathways Programs. In addition, there is the Adult Horsemastership Program designed to help those new to horse ownership, as well as several "How to Booklets". Local Clubs, as well as individuals, will find many useful resources in the Club Resource Guide available on CD through your secretary or president. It may also be down loaded from the AMHA website.
