Dear Region 10 Members and Friends,

Happy New Year!

AMHA Election 2008

  • Most of you should have received your ballot for the 2008 AMHA election of directors by now. The ballot form provides good instructions regarding the completion and submission of the ballot.

  • Your ballot must be returned to the Tabulating Agent by postal mail in the envelope provided by the Tabulating Agent and must be postmarked no later than February 1, 2008.

  • Members may also cast their vote in person in the tabulation room at the Annual Meeting of Members from 9 AM until the time of the close of the election.

  • Please be aware that to vote in person, you must provide a photo ID for identification purposes.

  • No faxed ballots will be accepted.

  • Election of directors is an important function of the membership. AMHA no longer uses proxy voting, which means that the power to vote for a candidate rests with you and you alone.

  • You cannot ask someone to carry your ballot to the election and you cannot assign your voting privilege to anyone else.

  • In our region, we are voting for two Directors: One Director for Region 10 and one Director-at-Large. Each of these is to serve a 3-year term.

Barbara Hewitt - Incumbent, is the only candidate who has applied for this Region 10 Director position.

Harry Sebring - Incumbent, is the only candidate who has applied for this Director-at-Large position.

A biographical sketch for each of these candidates is available on the Members Only side of the AMHA web site:

To read more about Harry Sebring, you can go to:
    http://www.morganhorse.com/members/inside_electiondal.php.

To read more about Barbara Hewitt, you can go to:
    www.morganorse.com/members/inside_election10.php.

  • Even though there is only one candidate for each of these director positions, it is critical that you cast your vote. In the absence of a voting quorum, the election would have to be conducted again at great expense to the organization. Please remember that is it is your right and privilege to participate in these elections, and we urge you to exercise that prerogative. If you have questions regarding the election process, please feel free to contact us anytime.

    Happy trails,
    Barbara Hewitt

Enjoy Your Morgan in Competition with Other Breeds

If you and your Morgan like to compete in open shows, competitive trail rides, endurance, carriage competitions, Dressage, or western working competitions, you can earn points toward a year-end award, a medallion, or even earn a prestigious sport horse award. The AMHA Open Competiton Program is getting bigger and better all the time.

There is a once-only lifetime fee of $40 per horse entered into the program, or you can enter for one year at $15. There is a terrific mutual benefit for the Morgan breed and for you and your horse when you join the AMHA Open Competition Program.

    If Competition Isn't Your Thing...

The AMHA Pathways Program is a great way to receive recognition for your non-competitive hours in the saddle or in the carriage with your Morgan. Training/conditioning/pleasure trail hours can all be entered into your Pathways log. There is a once-only lifetime fee of $45 per horse. You will be surprised at how fast those hours add up to earn a badge.
