Plans Continue for Derby Gala to Benefit Capital Building Fund

And they're off! Those three words ignite some of the most exciting two minutes in equine sports.

The American Morgan Horse Association (AMHA) and American Morgan Horse Institute (AMHI) hope you'll spend the 133rd Kentucky Derby in Shelburne, Vermont, to help them celebrate and mobilize the Morgan community behind the "Capital Building Fund." The Capital Building Fund was established in 2007 to address repairs and maintenance to the "Home of the Morgan," the AMHA National Headquarters and the National Museum of the Morgan Horse, both located in Shelburne.

NAIS Update:

AMHA staff and board has received inquiries recently regarding the status of NAIS (National Animal Identification System) and it's possible impact on AMHA. Many of these inquires appear to stem from recent internet postings regarding a USDA Business Plan which calls for breed registries to start using an official Animal Identification Number, or "AIN" in their registry.

AMHA has been keeping abreast of NAIS for the past several years through the Equine species working group which was evaluating the program.
