Dear Region 8 Members,

The 2008 AMHA convention was awesome. The hospitality, hard work , and support by this club is just incredible . My thanks to all of them and all their hard work. The weather was certainly cold outside. However, whether inside for the great seminars or at the barn tours it was warm with good friends and conversation.

I would like to congratulate our newly elected directors Jack Gatewood and Sherry Cole for Region 3, Pat West for Region 4, Kris Breyer and Ling Fu Wylie for Region 5, and Harry Sebring Director-at-Large.

I would also like to congratulate Cindy Mugnier as our new president and thank Mike Goebig for his service as president for the past 3 years. Thanks to all your hard work and it has been a honor working with you.

Here are the highlights from the board meeting and the convention.

  • The Stallion Service Auction raised a record setting $159,639!
  • At Oklahoma barns 8 and 9 have been demolished and will be new for the 2008 Grand National.
  • On the weekend of May 2-4, 2008 the AMHI/AMHA Capital Building Committee is planning a get together in Shelburne, VT. This will Commemorate 20 years in Vermont and to increase the awareness of the Capital Building campaign. I encourage all of you to attend. It will be a great event!
  • As of 12-31-07 the number of memberships was at 10,281. This is down slightly from that time last year.
  • The finance report showed that the 2007 income was less than budget projections. There have been new revenue sources started and new affinity partners. For more information on the affinity partners check the website.
  • The 2007 financial audit was done by a new firm and found our financials in good order. They also found the previous years report to be in good order. We received and "unqualified" rating which is the best you can get! Great job to everyone at AMHA for your hard work!

I want to remind everyone if they still are renewing their USEF cards to be sure and mark the box for Morgan. The more Morgan members the more of a presence we get at USEF.

If you are interested in running for Region 8 director now is the time to start thinking about it. This year is an election year for the Region 8 director. (with the election at the 2009 Convention) If you would like more information contact Erica@morganhorse.com.

As always if you have any questions or input contact me at carolf@morganhorse.com

    Best Regards,
    Carol Fletcher
    Region 8 Director
