Dear Region 9 Members:

Many thanks to all of you that sent in recipes for the Circle J cookbook! Don't forget the 50th Anniversary Circle J Show July 3-6, 2008. Contact Patty Miller or John Aranda for information.

I have just returned from the May meeting in Shelburne and would like to give you the highlights:

  • The Registry reports that registrations and transfers are a little behind predictions, but overall our numbers look great as compared to other breed percentages. The Registry online has just about achieved a break even point, which is very good news. We are hoping to have the preliminary PSSM study information for the August meeting. There will be a moratorium announced on transfers; this applies only to those horses that have multiple transfers that were not completed. Please watch for details on www.morganhorse.com and in the next Network.

  • Finances are holding steady. We have a subcommittee that will evaluating the allocation of stallion service auction funds to include shows other than just the Regionals.

  • IT reports that they are mapping out design changes to the website. The April advertisers in TMH have their ads posted on the AMHA website as a bonus for supporting our breed journal.

  • By Laws reports one change to bylaw 2.2. This was a housekeeping change to reflect how we really take memberships (not only hard copy, but on the website, by phone etc). Full details will be in the next Network.

  • The Grand National Committee reports that Barn 8 has had a makeover and more updates are in sight!

  • Marketing/Promotions is gearing up for some possible "branding" updates for AMHA and is also setting the stage for the WEG in 2010.

  • The highlight was the Gala that was held to support the building fund. As you know the Shelburne building is in need of routine maintenance and we are working with AMHI to make this happen. The building support fund was at $45k prior to the Gala and raised approximately another $9000 at the Derby. Please consider donating to this worthy cause so that we properly maintain our home office. Please contact Julie Broadway for more information.

  • The upcoming USEF Rules Forums have several rules that are being considered. Please plan to attend a rules forum to express your opinion. The chair of our USEF Rules Committee is a valuable resource in understanding these proposed changes. Contact Sherry Cole

That's all for now. I hope you all are able to get out and enjoy your Morgans and please keep me apprised of club activities so I can pass the word.

    Happy Trails,

    Linnea
