In Memory: Jim Stewart
James B. Stewart, 83, of Medina, Ohio, passed away Friday, March 12, 2010. He was born November 3, 1926 in Eldersville, Pennsylvania, to the late Paul and Mary Stewart. Mr. Stewart served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948. In his early years, he was a dog handler and excelled with Afghan Hounds and German Shepards.
Jim owned Lookaway Farm, Medina, Ohio, where he raised world champion Morgan horses from 1964 to the present and was the President of Cecil C. Peck Company, Cleveland, Ohio, until his retirement in 2003. He served on the American Morgan Horse Association Board of Directors for 17 years, and currently served on the Board of the American Morgan Horse Institute. He volunteered as Director and Committee Member for the Ohio Morgan Horse Association, Penn Ohio Morgan Horse Association, and the Morgan Grand National Horse Show. Jim spent many hours serving as a volunteer for these organizations due to his extreme love of the horse breed called "The Morgan Horse" as well as the many friends who became extended family through the years.
Jim is survived by his wife Linda M. Stewart; sons Bruce W. Stewart, Brian B. Stewart, and Paul J. Stewart; daughter Kathleen J. Flower; grandchildren Talia Stewart and Evan J. Stewart; brothers William R. Stewart and John J. Stewart; and sister Elma Cunningham.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 4:30-9:00 p.m. at Williams on the Lake in Medina, Ohio. Area hotel is the Hampton Inn, 3073 East Point Drive, (330) 721-8955.
