The Morgan horse is truly one of the most beautiful, versatile and historically rich breeds in the world. We are proud of its past, present, and future – and we are eager to share that with you.
The Morgan horse is known for many things: his extreme beauty and heart, his athleticism and versatility, his willingness and intellect. But his most important trait—the one that distinguishes him from all other breeds—is his people-loving attitude. The Morgan horse wants a relationship with you and that is why our slogan is, "The Horse That Chooses You." No doubt your involvement with the Morgan horse is a relationship you will treasure for a lifetime. There's just nothing better than spending time with your Morgan.
The American Morgan Horse Association seeks to advance the breed and offer exciting programs and services for all our members. Membership in AMHA can benefit you in countless way. We hope you’ll take the time to check out all the great “perks” and how your membership can help preserve, promote and perpetuate the breed for generations to come.

The American Morgan Horse Association Inc. exists to preserve, promote, perpetuate the Morgan horse. Founded in 1909, the Morgan Horse Club (as it was then called) was formed to support the Morgan breed. The club grew and evolved and in 1971 underwent a reorganization and was renamed the American Morgan Horse Association to reflect its increasing responsibilities. The newly formed association offices were in Hamilton, New York, for a number of years with brief moves to both New Hartford and Westmoreland, New York. In 1988, the Association established its headquarters in Shelburne, Vermont.
Today there are approximately 90,000 living Morgans registered with AMHA. The Association carries out administration, promotion and education for the benefit of its members and the breed. AMHA serves approximately 7,000 active members, 50 recognized clubs, and 20 youth clubs.
