Big Bend Telestar was foaled at Big Bend Farms in Illinois. Telestar was a bright chestnut. Telestar was the half sister of Cold Cup Reserve Champion Mare, Big Bend Connie F, by Windcrest Ben Davis. Telestar was purchased to replace Sugar Run Sarita B, the Flesher Family's show mare. Telestar was purchased as a yearling, Tim Flesher began lunging Telestar and eventually trained her to harness. When she turned three, Telestar was sent to Mabel Chapman in Ripley, WV for saddle training. Mabel and Telestar won a large 3-Gaited Full Mane and Tail Saddle Class at a horse show in 1966. Telestar was successfully shown at the Gold Cup under saddle and in harness.
1968 came and it meant that the Flesher Family had to disperse their Morgans because of the heart attack of Tim's father, and Tim was getting ready to graduate from Marshall University. So it was decided to lease Sarita B and to sell her foal. It was also decided to consign Telestar to the New York Morgan Horse Sale. Chuck Hutchison of Cool Ridge Morgan Horse Farm was selected as the agent to put Telestar through the sale. The successful buyer was Archie Green. Telestar was also owned by Saddleback Farm (Lawrence Appley) and Lee Baldarelli. Her last owner was Julie Allen Rose of Simi Valley, CA.
