In Memory - JoAnn Merians

Merians, JoAnn (Voss), age 82 of Fowlerville Michigan, died December 30, 2020. She was born on May 19, 1938, in Pontiac Michigan to Floyd C. and Marie (Pike) Voss.

She is survived by her beloved and adoring husband James B. Merians of Fowlerville Michigan. JoAnn has three devoted and loving sons, Mike (Judy) Merians of Fowlerville, Gary (Jan Jo) Merians of Ocala Florida, and Gregg Merians of Howell. She also has four grandchildren who she absolutely adored, Gary Jr., Kelly, Jordyn, and Brendan. They were a great source of joy to JoAnn.  JoAnn was blessed with four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Avery, Parks, and Adley.

JoAnn grew up loving horses, especially her Morgan’s. She was an active member of the Michigan Justin Morgan Horse Association for many years along with her parents Floyd and Marie Voss.

JoAnn and Jim owned and operated, “The Donut Shoppe” in downtown Brighton for many years. JoAnn’s apple fritters are still legendary in the area.

She worked at LACASA of Livingston County for over twenty five years starting as a volunteer.

JoAnn was very proud of her three boys. Not only was she proud of their athletic accomplishments but, their lives as husbands, fathers, and grandfathers. She loved her vacations to “The Cabin” up north with her children and grandchildren.

She loved singing, especially with her dear friend Betty Yax in the choir at Grace Lutheran Church. She had a beautiful voice and was always singing. Even if it was just her and Jim in the car, she was singing along with a tape.

JoAnn was a strong willed and independent woman that positively affected many lives. She will forever hold a place in her family’s heart. Private family funeral services will be held with a public memorial reception to be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to Laurus Hospice or Grace Lutheran Church in Howell.
