FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LEXINGTON, KY— Please be advised that there have been NO changes to the Classic Pleasure Shoeing section of the USEF Morgan Division rules for 2023 competition year.  The current rule must be followed for the entire 2023 competition year.

Therefore, for ALL competitions held in the 2023 competition year, the rule remains the same and states:

MO 103.3

In Classic Pleasure classes, horses may be shown with or without rim pad(s).  Rim pads must follow the inner and outer edge of the shoe and the connection at the heel must not be wider than any aspect of the shoe.  The entire sole and frog of the foot must be visible with the exception of that connection at the heel and the length of the toe including the shoe and pad(s) must not exceed 4 ½ inches.

The AMHA Board of Directors has formally submitted an official rule change proposal to the USEF Board of Directors for approval at their summer meeting with an effective date of December 1, 2023. If passed by the USEF Board of Directors, this rule WILL change effective Dec. 1, 2023 for the 2024 competition year.  At that time, the rule that was put through the forums to remove the restriction on pads but keep the toe length including pad and shoe to a maximum of 4 ½ inches will become effective.  If passed, any type of pad will be acceptable so long as the foot measures in accordance with the maximum length described above.

AMHA will keep the membership updated on any changes and notice of approvals.

If you have any questions regarding this rule or the process, please contact Executive Director, Carrie J. Mortensen at the AMHA office on her direct line of 859-405-0746 or via email at execdir@morganhorse.com
