In Memory: Jeanne Thomas

Jeanne Thomas of Fredericksburg, Texas died March 10, 2016. Jeanne was an avid breeder, trainer, and historian of Morgan horses for more than 60 years. She enjoyed many national champions in her career and some of her favorite bloodlines included Lippett and Chasley Superman Morgans.

Her most recent champions were Aries Patton, the 2014 Reserve World English Pleasure 13 & Under Champion, and Aries Cara Mia, the 2015 Grand National Pleasure Driving Mare Champion.

Early in her career, Jeanne was recognized for her publication Justin Morgan’s Influence of the
Quarter Horse, which was a rich delve into the history of the breeds.

Jeanne was known for her keen sense of humor and her tenacious personality. These wonderful qualities helped her through 14-year battle with cancer. She is survived by three daughters, Claire Longstreth of Amarillo, Texas; and Claudia Fangman and Christine Schulz of Canyon, Texas; two grandchildren, Alicia Longstreth of Amarillo, Texas, Ryan Fangman of Austin, Texas; and one great grandchild, Thomas Barrett Fangman of Austin.
