Youth Council President Sarah Kucza and Youth Program Director Katie Hodges attended the AQHA Youth Excellence Seminar in Amarillo, Texas, July 11-13. The AQHA youth welcomed Sarah and Katie with open arms and were thrilled to discuss ways to engage more youth in the equine industry in all breeds across the country.

Sarah joined a roundtable discussion with youth representatives from the National Reining Horse Youth Association, the Pinto Horse Association, and the American Quarter Horse Youth Association to talk more about AMHA’s youth programs and to learn about theirs. Highlights of the trip for Katie and Sarah included touring the AQHA Hall of Fame, listening to inspirational speeches by Dr. Rick Rigsby and Chase Glenn, and participating in a wonderful community service activity preparing healthy snacks for children dealing with food insecurity. The AQHA has more than 23,000 youth members with roughly 200 of them in attendance at the seminar.
