Attention Stallion owners – the NYSSA needs YOU!

December 9, 2020

On January 30, 2021, the New York State Morgan Horse Society will hold its 32nd Annual Stallion Service Auction (NYSSA) at the del Lago Casino in Waterloo, New York. Shane Darnell, Equine Sports Council, has been hired to attend to promotional advertising, and livestreaming of the event. Preparation for conducting the event totally online (should the pandemic shut down casinos) is being addressed.

Morgan stallion owners, PLEASE consider donating a season to your stallion(s) to this long-standing program. Your donation of just one breeding to your stallion would be very beneficial to the event.  The NYSSA is one of the oldest breed stallion auctions in the country and a pillar in our Morgan industry. It was created many years ago as a means of promoting and preserving the Morgan horse. Only with your support, will it remain strong and vital.

The NYSSA has a new look to its website and Facebook page and has made structural changes to the program to institute a true $5,000 BONUS Award for the stallion owner. The NYSSA’s focus is to promote our beautiful Morgan stallions throughout the year, 24/7, along with their get!  Not just prior to the Auction, not just listing their name and what they sold for in a onetime ad, but throughout the year with constant updated postings - to present our breed's finest in photos and text.  The NYSSA website and Facebook are now a "go to" site for the breed.

Also, plans are underway to have a “Friday Night of the Sweeps” at the 2021 New York Morgan Regional Show in September (alternative show sites have been identified in case the Syracuse International Fairgrounds are unavailable due to COVID so the show can go on!). The addition of a performance class for two-year olds at two other Morgan events leading up to the NY Regional Show, to be sponsored by NYSSA, are being discussed.

The NYSSA brings the Morgan, “America’s Horse,” to many small breeding farms, who in turn supply many riders with their first experience with the Morgan horse.  Our goal is to make Morgan ownership available to equine enthusiasts of all types. Can we count on you to help us accomplish this goal?  Together, we are #MorganStronger.
