AMHECT Grants & Scholarships – November Deadlines

The American Morgan Horse Educational Charitable Trust (AMHECT) annually offers several grants and scholarships to the AMHA membership. If you are unfamiliar with these generous programs, please visit our website to learn more. You or someone you know may want to apply for these opportunities. For more information, click HERE 

The application period for four (4) of the grants (listed below) is open now and will close on November 30 at 5:00 PM Eastern time. Please note that this includes the 2023 Harry Sebring and 2023 Alberta Honstein Grants which have had their deadlines extended from November 1 to November 30. Here is a little about these grants. 

 

2023 Harry Sebring Grant

The Harry Sebring Memorial Grant is offered to all AMHA members under the age of 40 who would like to further their equine education, skills, or proficiency and/or provide equine-related experiences and education that will further the grant recipient’s business endeavors. The application for this grant is available HERE

 

2023 Elberta Honstein Grant

The Elberta Honstein Memorial Grant is offered to all AMHA members under the age of 21 to further his or her equine education, skills, or proficiency, and/or further his or her academic education. The application for this grant is available HERE

 

2023 van Schaik Dressage Scholarship

The $1,000 van Schaik Dressage Scholarship is available to AMHA members of any age who wish to further their skill, knowledge or proficiency in classically ridden dressage. In selecting a candidate for this scholarship, emphasis will be placed on helping a rider move from the lower levels of dressage to fourth level and above. Preference will be given to applicants who have competed their Morgan(s) at First Level Test 3 or above and received a 60 percent or higher score at a recognized competition. Prior recipients are not eligible to apply. Click HERE for the application. 

 

Ellen DiBella Western Dressage Scholarship 

Ms. DiBella’s scholarship, up to $1,000, is awarded to preserve and encourage the classical methods as applied to the Western discipline in which she strongly believes. A Morgan individual, of any age, wishing to further his or her skill, knowledge, or proficiency in ridden Western Dressage utilizing Morgan horses is encouraged to apply. In selecting a candidate for this scholarship, emphasis will be placed on helping a rider move from the lower levels of dressage through fifth level. Preference will be given to applicants who have competed their Morgan(s) at first level or above and received a 60 percent or higher score at a recognized competition.
