Announcing the 2023 Elberta Honstein Memorial Grant Recipients

The American Morgan Horse Educational Charitable Trust (AMHECT) is proud to announce two recipients of the 2023 Elberta Honstein Memorial Grant. 

- Lauren Rekis of Marshall, Michigan, was awarded funds for riding instruction to further her equestrian skills.

- Jordan Freitag of Blue Mounds, Wisconsin was awarded funds to assist with her college tuition in pursuit of her bachelor’s degree in animal science/pre-veterinary at the University of Wisconsin.

About Ms. Honstein: Elberta Honstein and Roy-El Morgan Farm have a rich and long history with the Morgan breed. Roy-El Morgan Farm was founded in the early 1960′s by Roy and Elberta Honstein. They passed on their love of Morgans to their daughter, Debbie, and then to Debbie’s daughters, Elberta Seybold and Eriene Seybold-Smythe. This grant is awarded in memory of Ms. Honstein.
