AMHA/UPHA Open Gate Learning Center at the Grand National

The American Morgan Horse Educational Charitable Trust (AMHECT) is excited to announce the receipt of a grant from the United Professional Horsemen's Association (UPHA) that will cover all expenses of the 2020 AMHECT/UPHA Open Gate Learning Center offered during the 2020 Morgan Grand National & World Championship Horse Show being held in OKlahoma City, OK October 10th through the 17th.

The purpose of the Learning Center is to provide academic support to young riders, grades 5-12, who are away from their local schools. Participants can stay abreast of their academic requirements by providing a structured learning environment. The center is supervised by a professional teacher who can provide academic support for students and the center will work with teachers from the student's school to help guide activities while away from school and to monitor tests, if needed. Assignments can be posted, faxed, or emailed form the center to meet deadlines.

This year, there is limited seating and no more than 8 students will be allowed in the center at any one time to follow proper CDC scial distancing guidelines. The center will be disinfected regularly, and all are requred to wear masks while in the center. There will be no shared supplies and students will need to bring any marterials requred to complete their assignments including laptops and calculators when applicable. Sutdents MUST make an appointment PRIOR to their use of the center to ensure a maximum of 8 students at any one time.

It is not too late if you are in Oklahoma and had not yet signed up to utilize the learning center. Stop by during center hours (9 AM to 5PM Central Time) to speak to the Center Coordinator, Deborah Muphy.
