Carrie joined the AMHA team in August of 2016.  Growing up she rode saddle seat and graduated from William Woods University with a degree in Equestrian Science and Business Administration.  She later obtained her MBA from Xavier University.  Before relocating to Vermont, she spent over two decades in Lexington, Kentucky where she gained experience and exposure to many breeds and disciplines via positions with the American Saddlebred Horse Association, The Jockey Club, and the United States Equestrian Federation.  Her interests include all things equine and Jack Russell terriers – especially her faithful companion “Riley.”

Kathie joined the AMHA team in December 2019. Growing up totally crazy for horses, she finally got her first horse, a Morgan named Burr Oak May Lady (aka Taxi), when she (Kathie) was 33 years old (and Taxi was 15!). Kathie has been active in the Bluegrass Morgan Horse Club for decades, has organized and participated in many Morgan breed demonstrations, has volunteered at past AMHA Conventions, and is thrilled to be working with AMHA. Through positions with the Kentucky Horse Park, thoroughbred farms, Hagyard Equine, NWHA, and USEF, she gained varied and valuable knowledge to share with us. Along with her husband, John, Kathie resides in Paris, Kentucky on their hobby farm with Champ (T Creeks Jazzman), Rose (their rescued Border Collie), and three kitties: Kimberly, Benjamin, and Annie. 




Erica Eulau, Registrar, Registrar/IT

Erica joined AMHA in 1988, when AMHA moved to Shelburne, Vermont. She began her tenure in the Registry Department as a regional representative and later became the supervisor of registry. In 1994, Erica transitioned from the registry department to take on the youth activities and subsequently became the Director of Membership Services. In October 2010, she once again joined the registry department as Registrar, which maintaining her other duties as well.

A native of Tarrytown, New York, Erica moved to Vermont in 1985 and currently resides in Shelburne with her son, Jeremy, and two standard poodles. She is a collector of LP records and enjoys gardening, travelling, listening to music, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.


Kristen Kelly, Programs Manager

Kristen joined the AMHA staff in September of 2018.  Prior to her move to Vermont, she graduated from the Art Institute of San Diego and pursued a career as a Waldorf teacher. Kristen enjoys spending time with her daughter on the ocean, raising chickens, woodworking, and gardening.

Nikki Joined AMHA In February of 2020. Horses, especially Morgan’s have been part of her life since she was 6 years old! Starting by showing Morgan’s, participating in Youth Contests and youth groups at a young age, she developed a passion for the program.  Since 2015 she has been running the Grand National Youth Contest. She resides in Plaistow, NH and in her free time enjoys baking, crafts and spending time with her many animals, including her horse “Sugar”.


Stephen Kinney, Editorial Director

Stephen Kinney grew up on a horse farm in eastern Canada and is a lifelong horse trainer. In the late 1980s, he officially became a trainer of Morgans, loving the breed for its intelligence and accessibility for amateurs and junior exhibitors. He holds the distinction of having won the Morgan English Pleasure World Championship in 1999 and 2000 aboard Brenda Varney’s beloved Aspenglow Genesis. He retired from horse training after the 2001 season to become a magazine editor and joined The Morgan Horse as Editorial Director in 2008. In addition to getting intense satisfaction from his work and travels as editor of TMH, he enjoys baking in the winters and kayaking in the summers, and is a devoted fan of classical music. He works from home and lives in northern Maine.

Kim Oplotnik, Associate Editor

Kim Oplotnik has been active in the Morgan community for over 10 years as a club member, competitor, and “Show Mom.” After graduating from the University of Oklahoma, enjoying a career as a professional ballet dancer, and starting a family, a lifelong love of horses drew Kim into the Morgan world. Well versed in technology and social media, having served as a Computer Technology teacher, Kim has been a regular contributor and regional representative for The Morgan Horse magazine for five years. Kim joined AMHA in 2016 as Associate Editor.

Kimberly Wilkinson, Graphic Designer

Kim has been part of The Morgan Horse magazine staff since 2004. Before TMH, Kim received a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from the University of Vermont and a Master’s of Science in Communications Design from Pratt Institute. When not at work, Kim enjoys spending time with family and friends. Her passion in life is animals, especially her dog, Ginny!

Brooke Cote, Graphic Designer

After graduating from Champlain College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia and Graphic Design, Brooke began working as an advertisement designer at The Morgan Horse in 2006 and now tackles editorial design as well. When not at work Brooke enjoys crafting and spending time with family and friends.
