YAA Judging School Scholarship: Deadline July 15

July 10, 2019

The AMHA Young Adult Alliance (YAA), a group of professionals and amateurs working together to strengthen the Morgan breed, today announced the opening of applications for their annual judging school scholarship. The scholarship awards up to $1,500 in reimbursement following the successful completion of two judges schools and one learner judging position to one individual aged 21-40, professional or amateur, who is interested in attaining their Morgan "R" judging card.

“When we founded the Young Adult Alliance, we wanted to empower young adults to become more active in our breed,” said Kelsey Ramsey YAA co-chair. “This scholarship helps to remove barriers faced by young adults on their journey to giving back through judging. Each application is carefully reviewed by our committee and we encourage all interested to apply!”

Any professional or amateur, age 21-40, who has the intent of becoming a USEF Morgan "R" judge may apply. Applicants should submit a 500-word essay on the topic: “What I hope to learn from Morgan judging school and what I will contribute to the judging pool.” In addition, applicants must include one recommendation letter from a current USEF "R" Morgan judge, a resume, and the completed application.

Selection will be based on the applicant's passion and desire to contribute to the Morgan breed and uphold the breed standard as expressed in the essay, Morgan experience as outlined in the application, and the experience, dedication and commitment suggested from the letter of recommendation. Professional or amateur competitor status will not be taken in to consideration in the selection process. Past winners include Josh Noble, Melissa Morrell, Jordan Cusumano, Celia Salmon, and Bobbie Jo Jaakkola.

Applications for the 2019 YAA Judging School Scholarship will open from May 25, 2019 to July 15, 2019. For more information and an application, please visit www.morganhorse.com/yaa.
