The Intrepid Collection: An Opportunity to Purchase Morgan History

January 31, 2017

The “Intrepid Collection” was established in 1965, by Arthur L. Perry, Jr. The main purpose for starting the collection was Mr. Perry’s love for the Morgan horse, its history and memorabilia. Through the years it has grown to house Morgan paintings, bronzes, weathervanes, and written history of the breed. The collection also includes cast iron toys, banks, rocking horses, canes, belt buckles, bolo ties clocks, etc. The group contains touring suits made for Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, and the rhinestone suit for Elvis Presley’s appearance in the film, "Love Me Tender," all designed by Nudi, "Clothier to the Stars."

Arthur Perry has long been known for his participation in parade classes in the show ring as well as 28 appearances in the Tournament of Roses Parade held in Pasadena, California. He used his well-appointed sterling silver saddle, by famous saddle-maker Edward Bohlin, originally made in the 1940s, for actor Robert Taylor.

Due to the passing of time and advancing years, Mr. Perry has decided to disperse his “Intrepid Collection” so that it may be enjoyed by others. A portion of the collection will be offered for sale at the 2017 American Morgan Horse Convention to be held at Riverside, California.

Should there be any special area of Morgan horse history that you are interested, call Mr. Perry at (805) 688-0020 and he will see if there is something in his collection that will fill your request.
