Are You Running a Youth Contest?

May 10, 2017

If you’re running a Youth Contest, make sure you check out our Youth Contest Planbook here! This helpful guide explains each section of the contest, offers instructions for how to score the contests, has sample patterns, and more! You can refer to this whether it’s your first time running a Youth Contest or your 50th! We want you to have all the resources you need.

We offer a fillable PDF file that you can type directly on in order to submit your Youth Contest Application and Report. Remember to save the document to your desktop before you type! Please remember to submit your report within two weeks of your Youth Contest.

*Please note, if your contest does not hold all 4 divisions equaling 800 points, then only the Senior Winner will qualify for the GN Youth Contest.* Therefore, AMHA encourages you to do your best to hold all 4 sections at local/regional contests so more than one person can qualify at the same contest and we can give youth as many opportunities to qualify for GN as possible! If you need help organizing a section, please don't hesitate to ask.

For example, many contests skip a Judging Division because of a lack of In Hand classes or time during the show. There are easy solutions for this... No In Hand classes? Use photos of horses In Hand for the kids to judge! Can't get the kids in center ring? Have them sit together in the box seats to judge performance classes! Remember - the more experience they get, the better prepared they are. AMHA has In Hand photos we can send you... Just let us know how we can help your contest be a success.

THANK YOU for all you do for AMHA Youth!
