Cusumano Awarded YAA Judging Scholarship

May 31, 2017

Congratulations to Jordan Cusumano LLMSW, who was the recipient of the 2016 Young Adult Alliance (YAA) Judging School Scholarship! Jordan has been an active Morgan show exhibitor for 17 years and says that she grew up looking with reverence at the judges. She looks forward to working hard, studying, and becoming part of the judging pool. In her essay, Jordan reflected on how many of the skills she learned as a master’s level social worker will transfer well to being a judge.

“We created this scholarship to encourage young adults to join the Morgan judging pool, we see it as a way to provide financial support to young adults who endeavor to give back to the Morgan breed through judging,” said YAA Co-Chair Steven Handy.

“Our applicants this year were all well qualified and the field was very competitive," Handy said. Cusumano holds a Masters Degree from University of Michigan in Social Work and works as a volunteer coordinator at a leading hospital. She received a glowing recommendation from Gerry Rushton. Yet it was her essay that stood out the rest, and illustrated how her profession as a social worker will benefit her as a Morgan judge through the same grounding in ethics and education.

The application period for the 2017 YAA Judging School Scholarship will be released in the coming months and the scholarship will be awarded in winter of 2017. To learn more about the project visit http://www.morganhorse.com/yaa/yaa-project.

We look forward to hearing more about Jordan’s continued education and to seeing her receive her Judge’s Card!
