Updates from the 2018 New England Morgan

June 26, 2018

The New England Morgan Horse Association and its show committee are working diligently to bring another exciting horse show for 2018! The 79th year of the New England Morgan Horse Show will take place Tuesday, July 24 through Saturday, July 28 at the Three County Fairgrounds in Northampton, Massachusetts.

Latitudes will return under the tent and will be bringing some of our dining favorites from West Springfield, but they also will be dressing up the tent with big screen TVs, lounge furniture, beautiful lighting, and all the little touches that will welcome us to gather before, during, and after classes. Once again the sponsor’s lounge ringside is courtesy of Pleasant Brook Farm & Feed.

The show promises to be another spectacular showcase of our beloved Morgan horses. The show committee works tirelessly to provide a fun-filled week of activities to pair with the competition in and out of the show ring and have many added events this year. It is “The Year of The Sport Horse,” including a Western Dressage Clinic with Chuck Patti and the popular High-Point Sport Horse Award will return again this year. The East Coast Hunter Classic will bring fences to the main ring and a scurry obstacle class for those willing to team up with a pro and give it a go.

The show also will recognize four individuals this year with their induction into the Northampton Horseman’s Hall of Fame. On Friday night, Phyllis and Curtis Collins will be inducted and Saturday will see the induction of Jackie Ross and Elsie Rodney. These four individuals have left an indelible impression on the horse show as well as the in sport horse arenas.

Many great champions have graced the Northampton ring and this year, two owners will take finals passes with their horses down victory lane: Equinox Bossanova GCH and Medomak French Invasion GCH will be celebrated for their storied show careers. These two champions will be the first two East Coast Champions who will be part of the new ring signage, which will be featured on box seats starting next year. Eligible horses are East Coast Champions or champions from the open divisions prior to the East Coast Championship designation. The cost for five years is $500 and there are a limited number available. Contact Selina Cloutier for more information, (603) 953-3470.

Thursday night is the launch of the new Morgan Stallion Sweeps, you won’t want to miss this event!
