AMHA President Releases Statement

March 1, 2019

During the AMHA Board of Directors meeting on February 7, Finance Committee Chair Kate Kirsch made a statement regarding unexpected and unnecessary attorneys expenses and other costs caused by certain conduct of Vicki Bennett, one of three AMHA directors from the Central Region. Ms. Kirsch called on Ms. Bennett to resign as director.

The following day at the February 8 annual meeting of members, a motion was made, seconded and voted on by Central Region members in attendance to request Ms. Bennett’s removal from her director’s seat. The AMHA Board Reorganizational Meeting was held immediately following the annual meeting of members. At that time, AMHA President Mari Sanderson advised Ms. Bennett of the motion made at the annual meeting and again asked her to resign. She did not agree to do so.

The AMHA President intends to call a special meeting of the Central Region Members to address this request for removal. Further updates as well as an official meeting notice to Central Region members and ballot forms for use by them will be forthcoming as logistics are worked out.
