Ellen L. Strangeway, 72, of Kilmarnock, Virginia, went to be home with her Lord and Savior and the love of her life of 53 years on October 23, 2021. She was with her daughters; and granddaughter, Kelsey, until she took her last breath. We sang, prayed over her, anointed her and told her how much she was loved and would be truly missed. Words cannot express our sorrow. Heaven gained an angel, but we lost a truly godly example of compassion and grace. She was a member of New Life Community Church, Burgess.

She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Rother (John) and Lisa Cozino; seven grandchildren, Kelsey and Austin Martin, Kayla and Andrew Harvell and Neil, James and Anthony Cozino; sister, Maresa Ann Craig; nieces, Maresadeann Craig and Tiffany Brown; great-niece, Courtney Brown; great-nephew, Robbie Brown; and sister-in-law, Joan Cole (Bob). She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Strangeway.

Those who knew Ellen best, knew of her love of God, her family, friends and horses (her ministry). Ellen's love of horses gave her an avenue to minister in person, online and everywhere she went. Ellen had a compassionate heart, full of generosity and kindness. Ellen said she never met a stranger.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2021 at New Life Community Church, Burgess, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to New Life Community Church, P.O. Box 1724, Kilmarnock, Va. 22482 or Greenfield Equine Retirement Farm, 1376 Greenfield Road, Reedville, VA  22539.
