The Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin was home to the 2023 Midwest Horse Fair which took place April 14 -16. This Fair has a long, honored tradition of celebrating horses and the equine community. The theme this year was “Branded in History.”

The Wisconsin Morgan Horse Club was there to share their magnificent Morgan horses with the Fair’s nearly 60,000 attendees - Wow! The roller coaster weather from 80 degrees to 6+ inches of snow was challenging but didn’t deter this amazing group. A welcoming booth greeted the visitors and provided magazines and information about the Morgan. In performances on Friday and Saturday, the Club showcased their eleven horses (stallions, mares, and geldings) in In-hand, English Pleasure, Hunter/Jumper, Hunter Pleasure, Pleasure Driving, Western Pleasure, and Working Equitation. Ranging from 1 to 27 years young, this talented group of Morgans, and their owners/riders, skillfully exhibited the versatility, beauty, and longevity of the Morgan horse.

In a special presentation, Elysium Boanerges (aka Brego) was named the Midwest Horse Fair’s “2023 Horse of the Year,” which won him a stall on Celebrity Row! This honor is awarded by the Wisconsin Horse Council Board of Directors to famed equines with legendary accomplishments. Congratulations, Brego and family!

The Club received a lovely letter from the Fair complimenting them on their professionalism, friendliness, and entertaining breed and discipline demonstrations. AMHA, too, would like to thank everyone for their excellent efforts and dedication to promoting the Morgan horse. We appreciate the hard work and financial contributions you make to bring about these awesome presentations. And we are proud to support you through our AMHA Breed Promotion Grants Program. Thank you for a job well done!
