AMHA Congratulates our 2023 Open Competition Winners

The points have been tabulated. Congratulations to our 2023 Open Competition winners!

These winners will receive their awards during the AMHA Luncheon and Awards presentation at the 2024 AMHA Annual Convention on Saturday, January 27th.

Also, congratulations to Skydance Midnight GCH and Nancy Francine of Morganton, Georgia. This team received the 2023 Morgan Tournament Award from Equine Trail Sports (ETS). 

Open Competition encompasses a wide variety of disciplines which showcase some of our breed’s best ambassadors. These horses and riders compete against other breeds and promote the Morgan to a wide audience. Most new Morgan owners discover the breed either through friends or by seeing Morgans competing at open events. 

Our program recognizes Morgans competing in 34 different facets of equine competition based on eight core activities:  open shows, competitive trail riding and driving, endurance trail riding, dressage, carriage driving and combined driving events, working western, western dressage, and eventing. High point awards are given in these disciplines. In addition, Medallion awards for special individual achievement are presented in each of these eight core activities. Bronze, silver, gold, and platinum medallions are given to those meeting the medallion requirements – a remarkable achievement. Horses that earn medallions in five of the seven divisions are awarded a lifetime Sport Horse Award. Nine horses have earned this designation to date; view them HERE.
